ICD-10
Beginning Oct. 1, 2013, all HIPAA covered entities must use the new ICD-10 code sets. The current ICD-9 code sets are widely viewed as outdated due to their limited ability to accommodate new procedures and diagnoses. ICD-10 incorporates greater specificity of codes, more clinical information contained in the codes and updated terminology. Use of ICD-10 will improve the ability to measure health care services, enhance the ability to monitor the populations' health, provide better overall data and decrease the need for supporting documentation needed when submitting claims. IMPORTANT
Please be aware that due to implementation of HIPAA 5010, CHAMPS will experience a complete 4 day outage beginning Friday December 30th. CHAMPS is expected to be back up & functional on Tuesday January 3rd 2012. To check eligibility, please use web denis, or MI Health plan benefits page. Any claims submitted after Wednesday December 28th, 2011 will be held during the outage and will be processed beginning on at 12am January 3rd, 2012.
