Mission
The Michigan Council of Osteopathic Physicians is an MOA committee that oversees the MOA public relations budget so as to maximize understanding of the benefits of the osteopathic philosophy of health care and the benefit of membership in the MOA.

MOA Awards 2007 Core Grant Recipients!
Congratulations to the four recipients of 2007 MOA Core Grants! See current and future issues of the MOA TRIAD for detailed descriptions of each of these programs.

          —The Children’s Healthy Diet and Meal Plan (CHAMP’s) program, hosted by Lakeshore Family Care in Spring Lake and Timothy Kval, D.O., and Gregory Stempky, D.O. This 12-month program directed at children ages 6-12 years, encourages healthy and active lifestyles using daily logs and benchmark prizes.

          —MSUCOM Falls Risk Assessment Screening was hosted jointly by the MSUCOM student Geriatric Interest Group and MSUCOM student Internal Medicine Club and led by Frank Komara, D.O., and Thomas Mohr, D.O. This event was held in January of 2008 in the greater Lansing area and provided free screenings on reducing fall risk factors for elderly populations as well as supporting educational materials.

          —The Harvest Festival & Health Fair, hosted by Keith Barbour, D.O., and his practice Rehabilitation Specialists of Monroe. This program took place October 20, 2007, to create ongoing community awareness of how osteopathic medicine combines with diet, exercise and other functional aspects to enhance the health of both mind and body.

          —The Step Into Health Party, hosted by the Center for Family Health in Jackson, including MOA members Sharon Rouse, D.O., and Rosemarie Tolson, D.O. This free event took place February 2, 2008 and was open to the public and provided immunizations and health screenings for people of all ages.
