HOUSE OF DELEGATES


Donna Moyer, D.O., of Carson City, was elected MOA
president for 2009-10. “During my tenure as president, I
will focus on the health of the entire being…holistic health,
as it is one of our most basic of osteopathic principles.  It
is my goal to use my year as president to celebrate the
health of the mind, body and spirit,” said Dr. Moyer.

George Sawabini, D.O., of Dearborn, was elected
MOA president-elect for 2009-2010.
   
John Sealey, D.O., of Detroit, was elected to the
MOA Board of Trustees.


Incumbent trustees Robert Piccinini, D.O., of Sterling
Heights, and Myral Robbins, D.O., of Kalamazoo, were
elected to two-year terms on the MOA Board of Trustees.


Eight-year MOA Speaker of the House Carl Pesta, D.O.,
of New Baltimore, decided against running for reelection.
Delegates elected for one-year terms
Craig H. Bethune, D.O., of Wyoming, to the office of
Speaker of the House, and Anthony Ognjan, D.O., of
Mount Clemens, to Vice Speaker.

Presidential Citations were awarded to James Hiller, CEO
of Hiller’s Markets, for removing tobacco products from its
chain of stores; MOA Executive Director
Dennis Paradis, M.P.H., who served the MOA for 13 years
and retires in July; and Sidney Simonian, D.O., of Madison
Heights, who became the first woman to head the American
Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and
Otolaryngoglogy-Head and Neck Surgery.


The MOA Outstanding Graduating Senior Award was
awarded to Mark Petrocelli, D.O., of East Lansing.

A Distinguished Service Award was presented to outgoing
MOA Trustee and past President John Bodell, D.O.,
of Trenton.

Honorary Membership was conferred to Paul Reinhart, who
has served Michigan well as the Medicaid director for the
Michigan Department of Community Health.
