| May 27, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DR. ABRAMSON ELECTED TO MICHIGAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION Dearborn, Michigan— On May 14, 2008, Lawrence J. Abramson, D.O., MPH, of Pontiac, was elected to serve a two-year term as a trustee for the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA). The election took place during the MOA House of Delegates meeting held in conjunction with the MOA 109th Annual Postgraduate Convention and Scientific Seminar at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan. Dr. Abramson received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Des Moines College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Iowa, and his Master of Public Health ,Occupational Medicine from the University of Michigan. In addition, he is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians. Currently, Dr. Abramson serves as the quality director for POH Regional Medical Center, Pontiac, while also serving on several of the POH Regional Medical Center’s committees including chair of the Hospital Practices as well as the Utilization Review and Professional Practices Committees and as a member of the Bioethics and the Medical Executive Committees. “The goal of my service to the MOA will be to significantly enhance the effectiveness of the MOA as a leading organization in this state advocating for sound health policy while providing a voice for the physicians and patients I represent,” said Dr. Abramson. In addition to his new position as MOA trustee, Dr. Abramson has served as the co-chair of the MOA Education Committee since 2002 and is a current member of the MOA Practice Transformation and Blue Ribbon Committees. He is also the immediate past president of the Oakland County Osteopathic Medical Association, a member of the board of trustees for the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Practitioners and has served as an MOA delegate to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) House of Delegates. Officers on the MOA Board of Trustees are Craig Magnatta, D.O., of Troy, president; Donna Moyer, D.O., of Carson City; president-elect; and Susan Sevensma, D.O., of Grand Rapids, immediate past president. Other members of the MOA Board of Trustees include Kurt Anderson, D.O., of Shepherd; John Bodell, D.O., of Trenton; Edward Canfield, D.O., of Sebewaing; Robert Piccinni, D.O., of Macomb; Myral Robbins, D.O., of Kalamazoo; George Sawabini, D.O., of Dearborn; and Michael Weiss, D.O., of Troy. The Michigan Osteopathic Association represents more than 7,000 osteopathic physicians and students and promotes osteopathic medicine in Michigan by shaping the health care delivery system to better serve the community.
