DR. MOYER ELECTED PRESIDENT-ELECT OF MICHIGAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION

Dearborn, Michigan—Donna Moyer, D.O., of Perrinton, was elected president-elect of the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) at its MOA House of Delegates meeting on May 14 and will serve as president-elect for 2008-2009. The House of Delegates meeting was held in conjunction with the MOA’s 109th Annual Postgraduate Convention and Scientific Seminar at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan.

Dr. Moyer, a board certified radiologist, has been in the medical field for more than 23 years, with 10 years spent in her position as the chief of radiology for Carson City Hospital, Carson City. In addition, she also serves as the chief of radiology for Sheridan Community Hospital, Sheridan.

“To be elected as president-elect of the MOA is quite an honor and I look forward to working with our new president, Dr. Craig Magnatta, and the MOA staff. Encouraging my colleagues to participate in advocacy efforts for our profession is one of my goals. For too long, physicians have had a laisse-fare attitude about health policy and legislative issues and the time has come to speak up on behalf of ourselves and more importantly on behalf of our patients. We need to promote our osteopathic profession and our commitment to providing optimal health care to our patients; it is as easy as ABC, remembering that Advocacy Brings Change,” said Dr. Moyer.

Dr. Moyer received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to her role with the MOA Board of Trustees, she is past president of the Central Michigan Association of Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons, Inc.

Additional officers on the MOA Board of Trustees are Craig Magnatta, D.O., of Troy, president; and Susan Sevensma, D.O., of Grand Rapids, immediate past president. Other members of the MOA Board of Trustees include Lawrence Abramson, D.O., of Pontiac; Kurt Anderson, D.O., of Shepherd; John Bodell, D.O., of Trenton; Edward Canfield, D.O., of Sebewaing; Robert Piccinni, D.O., of Macomb; Myral Robbins, D.O., of Kalamazoo; George Sawabini, D.O., of Dearborn; and Michael Weiss, D.O., of Troy.

The Michigan Osteopathic Association represents more than 7,000 osteopathic physicians and students and promotes osteopathic medicine in Michigan by shaping the health care delivery system to better serve the community.
