May 27, 2008 DR. ROBBINS RECOGNIZED BY MICHIGAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION FOR 30 YEARS OF SERVICE AS DELEGATE Dearborn, Michigan— On May 14, 2008, Gerald F. Robbins, D.O., of Huntington Woods, was recognized by the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) at its House of Delegates meeting for 30 years of service as a delegate. The House of Delegates meeting was held in conjunction with the MOA’s 109th Annual Postgraduate Convention and Scientific Seminar at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan. The duties of an MOA delegate include attending the annual House of Delegates meeting and acting as a liaison between regional osteopathic physicians and the state association to provide input on the development and implementation of MOA policies, recommendations for policy to be forwarded to the national association (the American Osteopathic Association) and to guide the association’s efforts on its legislative agenda. Dr. Robbins received his Bachelor of Science degree from City College of New York and he received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Currently, Dr. Robbins is a clinical neurologist in practice in Garden City. In addition to his service as an MOA delegate, Dr. Robbins has served the MOA in many leadership roles, including a 1993 MOA presidency and five years as chairman of the Michigan Osteopathic Political Action Committee. He is a member of the Michigan Osteopathic College Foundation Board of Trustees and a board member of the Physician’s Review Organization of Michigan. Dr. Robbins is a past president of the American College of Osteopathic Neurologists and Psychiatrists, founder and president of the Michigan Council of Osteopathic Physicians and a 2005 Walter F. Patenge Medal of Public Service recipient, an award given by the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) to recognize osteopathic medical practice exemplifying the best tradition of family medicine, public policy leadership and osteopathic hospital administration. The Michigan Osteopathic Association represents more than 7,000 osteopathic physicians and students and promotes osteopathic medicine in Michigan by shaping the health care delivery system to better serve the community.
