STOMEL AWARDED DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD BY MICHIGAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION

Dearborn, Michigan— Robert Stomel, D.O., of Farmington Hills, received the 2008 Distinguished Service Award from the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) in recognition of his eight years of service and leadership on the MOA Board of Trustees. He received the award at the MOA House of Delegates meeting on May 14, held in conjunction with the MOA’s 109TH Annual Postgraduate Convention and Scientific Seminar at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan.

Dr. Stomel, received his Bachelor or Science degree from the University of California and received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed post graduate training at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital-Bi-County General Hospital. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology and has a certification in cardiac electrophysiology. He is currently a member of Cardiovascular Clinical Associates, P.C., Farmington Hills, and director of the Botsford General Hospital Chest Pain Center.

In addition, Dr. Stomel is a staff cardiologist with Garden City Hospital, Providence Hospital, and Oakwood Hospital; associate clinical professor with the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Department of Internal Medicine; and associate clinical professor for the Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology with Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific.

Dr. Stomel joined the MOA Board of Trustees in 2000 and served as the MOA president in 2005-06. During his tenure on the board he served as chairman of several MOA Departments including the Continuing Education Department, Membership Department and the Judiciary and Ethics Department. In addition, he is a past president of the American College of Osteopathic Internists and the Society of Chest Pain Centers and has served as an MOA delegate to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) House of Delegates.
